The Japanese Language Course was held

Session 1: "Getting to know people"

We studied how to talk about our names, countries, jobs, and hobbies. We talked a lot with the other participants. We also studied how to read dates and days of the week.

Session 2: "Shopping"

We studied how to speak when shopping at a supermarket. We learned the names of things we want to buy and how to read prices (money). We practiced how to talk to the store staff.

Session 3: "Living Safely"

We studied about disasters in Tamba City. We learned that there are designated evacuation sites for emergencies. We also tried eating emergency food (survival food).

Session 4: "Making Disaster Prep Bottles & Japanese Games"

We played "Karuta" (a Japanese card game) to learn about various disasters. We made "Emergency Bottles" (bottles containing essential items for use during a disaster). We also played "Fukuwarai" (a traditional blindfold face-making game). Note: "Karuta" and "Fukuwarai" are traditional Japanese games played since old times.

Session 5: "Taking Out the Trash"

We studied how to separate and take out the trash. We learned about the different types of "Recycle Marks" (recycling symbols). We practiced how to sort the trash.

Session 6: "Enjoying Tamba"

We learned about famous things in Tamba City. We shared our impressions of places we have visited. We also talked about places we want to visit in the future. Everyone created "I've Been There Cards" and "Things I Want to Do Cards."

Session 7: "When You Get Sick"

We studied how to explain symptoms when feeling unwell. We studied how to read medicine instruction sheets. We learned about hospital locations and what items are needed when going to a hospital.

Session 8: "Sending Letters and Packages"

We studied how to send packages to our home countries. We looked up the shipping costs and how many days it takes for delivery. We practiced conversations for use at the post office.

Those who attended 6 or more sessions of this course received a certificate of completion.

Note: The following information is from when we were recruiting participants for the Japanese course.

“Practical Japanese Course @Tamba”

We will hold a Japanese language class called “Practical Japanese Course
@Tamba”
for people who want to learn Japanese.
In this class, you can learn Japanese words and expressions used in daily life, such as how to separate garbage and what to do in disasters.
You will be able to use Japanese more easily in your everyday life.

Who Can Join

People who live in Tamba City, work in Tamba City, or go to school in Tamba City, and are 15 years old or older.

 

Important

This class is for people who are just starting to learn Japanese or can understand only easy Japanese.
People who can already speak Japanese well or read and write Japanese are not eligible for this class.

Class Schedule

The class will be held every Saturday from November 29, 2025 to January 31, 2026.

There will be 8 classes in total:

November 29, December 6, December 13, December 20, January 10, January 17, January 24, and January 31.

Class time: 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

 

Note

There will be no class on December 27 and January 3.

2nd floor of Yume Town

300 Hongo, Hikami-cho, Tamba City, Hyogo Prefecture

Fee

Free of charge.

You do not need to pay any money.
